Oh, Weary Traveler

Oh, Weary Traveler

Oh, weary traveler, put down your sails

Come into this harbor – we’ve heard all your tales

Oh, weary traveler, come upon the shore

Forage in our trees until you want no more

No more

Oh, weary traveler, out at sea so long

Are you longing, longing to belong?

Oh, weary traveler, we’re all weary too

All coming home, and all missing you

Missing you

Oh, weary traveler, is your only rest

In a lonely mountain’s vulture-stalked nest?

Well, as a weary traveler I tried to make there a bed

But they feasted on my folded wings, taking me for dead

So now, weary traveler, I only lay my soul

At the heart of dear mates who are kin of ol’

Kin of ol’

Here, weary traveler, let’s touch with our hands

Breathe and sigh, “I understand”

For, weary traveler, I fly the flights

Out of my darkness and into my light

Into the light

Oh, weary traveler, leave if you choose

Go, fill your cups, I have mine too

And, weary traveler, if you choose to stay

Then, my friend, you may, you may, you may

You may

Please stay

Oh, weary traveler, put down your sails

Come into this harbor – we’ve lived all the tales

Oh, weary traveler, we navigate the flights

Into our darkness and into our light

Into our light

Into our light

Into our light

Suburban Refugee

Suburban Refugee

Suburban Devotee

Is what you’ve grown to be

Muted and molded from infancy

In a fragmented family

Without wise community

Tricked by a paved reality

It all falls on you and me

Eons of insanity

Who’s gonna heal this mess

And pay the karmic debt

Yeah, now’s our time to choose

We all win-win or lose-lose

Your anesthesia is starting to wane

What you gonna do when you feel that pain

Keep the ship steady towards coma and death

Or dare to change course towards life and breath

Suburban Devotee

With dreams of being free

Yet you invest in university

Or tread caged in your city

Drunk on oil ignorantly

And media mythology

The sacred birds and bees

Got warped by pornography

Your elder is a t.v.

Supermarket mentality

“Virtual intimacy

Science rules divinity”

It takes faith to walk away

When your friends intend to stay

But when you choose to live free

You become a refugee

Your anesthesia is starting to wane

What you gonna do when you feel that pain

Keep the ship steady towards coma and death

Or dare to change course towards life and breath

Suburban Refugee

Of course it ain’t easy

When all you learned is to consume

And maybe clean your room

To make a whole culture now

When you got no know how

Suburban Refugee

Heroically

Leave your security

To secure your future free

For the walls cannot contain

A being who’s truly sane

Your anesthesia is starting to wane

What are you gonna do when you feel that pain

Keep the ship steady towards coma and death

Or dare to change course towards life and breath

Suburban Devotee

To New Indigency

Create this with my friends and me

We have skills for living free

We don’t have to live like a refugee

We don’t have to live like a refugee…

Put Her First!

Put Her First!

( Modify instructions if you have children 🙂 )

A while ago life wasn’t going well

Try as I might, just felt like hell

Cars were broken, computers crashed

A hand was wounded, hopes were dashed

Home was crumbling, work was too

Dreams were dying, my heart was blue

Got the symptoms, didn’t know the cause

‘Til someone revealed a simple law

Got a lover or a wife?

Want your world to work?

Every day of your life

Put her first!

Even if you doubt

Or fear for the worst

Even if she shouts or pouts

Gotta put her first!

Put her first!

I got friends and family

Lots of responsibilities

Stumped what to do and how to relate

‘Till I got my priorities straight

She’s number one, family number two

Work number three – I’m not so blue

Friend’s number four, chores number five

Earth number six – I’m starting to thrive

Sometimes it seems too hard

Sometimes you hurt

Go ahead, let down your guard

Put her first!

It won’t be a curse

If you want her moon and sun

Then put her first!

Put her first!

Had plenty excuses, I’m a busy man

But what I do, says who I am

My talk was big, now my walk is tall

I make time for her and enjoy it all

That’s the scoop if you want her as a wife

Give your all, get a charmed life

Don’t fret about you, you’re in good hands

Spirit always cares for a loving man

You might be insecure

Or about to burst

Keep your intention pure

Put her first!

It may seem radical

Don’t ask why it works

It’s purely practical

To put her first!

Your life will be delight

From now to the hearse

You’ll see that I’m right

When you, put her first!

So, put her first!

Put her first!

That’s the scoop if you want her as a wife

Give your all, get a charmed life

Don’t fret about you, you’re in good hands

Spirit always cares for a loving man…

The Trimester Triathlon

The Trimester Triathlon

The Trimester Triathlon – The Trimester Triathlon

Runners and racers, Pacers and Knicks

Raiders and Lions, rackets and kicks

Skaters and skiers, fast Nascar rigs

Takes ten ESPN’s to keep up with the gigs

Marathons now are just not enough

For men to show others just how they’re tough

Iron men I tell you as strong as you be

Your contests are nothing compared to mommy!

The Trimester Triathlon – The Trimester Triathlon

Then labor and birth and nurse round the clock

Without enough sleep, she’s the real jock

The Trimester Triathlete – The Trimester Triathlete

Lasers and tasers, phasers and guns

Tall towers, nuke power, poaching for fun

Millionaires, billionaires, piled so high

Daredevil dreamers dry, wet, or sky

Impressive you are, oh, fill up the ‘zines

You are the wizards behind the machines

But deep down you know no matter your feats

Compared to a mother it’s all an easy street!

The Trimester Triathlon – The Trimester Triathlon

No man can do it – it takes a womb

A nine-month warm-up – then non-stop care to the tomb

The Trimester Triathlete – The Trimester Triathlete

Men meant to be hunters and protectors of the tribe

Shamans and craftsmen who keep us alive

All serving the mothers who all serve the kids

Who grow to be elders in the cycle of kin

We need men’s power and presence for sure

Need their hearts, minds, and passion so pure

Not squandered on sports and cliché accolades

In a misguided quest for eternal fame

Some say competition brings out our best

But cooperation is a much greater test

So, keep up with that mother who’s truly all-in

Then victory is (y)ours we all win-win-win!

The Trimester Triathlon – The Trimester Triathlon

No gold medals – or championships

Just precious human lives and real relationships

The Trimester Triathlete – The Trimester Triathlete

No one can do it – it takes a team

So the trimester triathlete can enjoy her dream

Just Love

Just Love

I got a phone call the other day

As the sunset’s painting was fading away

And when I heard the voice I saw her face

My dear friend, Lauren, who brings me grace

Even from another time and place

Well, we hadn’t touched in a year and a half

So we shared our stories, shared our laughs

Our descents into grief and dedication

To living our truth and inspiration

Oh, we’re healing our creations

And in my life, I think of her much

She healed me so deeply with her loving touch

And as she told me of her wondrous growth

It was her friendships that struck me the most

It was her friendships that struck me the most

“Oh, Lauren, what can I do

So I can have friends like you?”

She said, “If you want friends like me

Well, Z, it’s so easy

You just…just love”

So I asked my friend Lauren

“How do you have such good friends

That love you without a doubt

If you laugh or cry, or flee or shout

“And want to feel when you feel

And pray everyday for you to heal

And cherish you with all their might

And smile when you’re in sight?”

Oh, they smile when you’re in sight

“Oh, Lauren, how can it be

That you have a friend like me?”

After a pause, she told me true

And well, it was nothing new

“I just…just love”

I have this message to send

To all you dear friends

“I love you without a doubt

If you laugh or cry, or flee or shout

“And I want to feel when you feel

I pray every day for you to heal

I cherish you with all my might

And I smile when you’re insight”

Oh, I smile when you’re insight

“Oh, Lauren, how is it true

That I have a friend like you?”

Laughing, she said, “Don’t you see?

‘Cause Dwayne, it’s so plain to me

You just…just love”

I Party Naked

I Party Naked

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t sexy and it ain’t zen

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t trippy and it ain’t sin

I get naked at an ocean

I give naked in a park

Don’t matter if I’m in public

Can be daylight or moonlit dark

Can’t feel the sunshine in a building

Central heating ain’t like warm outside

Nature’s call is what I’m yearning

My birthday suit I don’t need to hide

My birthday suit I don’t need to hide

Yeah!  That’s more my style

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t sexy and it ain’t zen

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t trippy and it ain’t sin

I wasn’t born to cloak my feelings

Born to live where folks will meet my eyes

I like the breeze on my bottom

Feeling connected from the Earth to sky

Let’s all have a happy picnic

And hang our uniforms in the trees

We are born to party naked

With the groundhogs and bull froggies

With the mongoose and the coquis

Yeah!  That’s more my style

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t sexy and it ain’t zen

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t trippy and it ain’t sin

Naked is how I sing and dance

Naked – my tan is whole not half

Naked – I’m out of the fashion trance

Why, I even get naked to take a bath!

I get naked to take a bath!

Yeah!  That’s more my style

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t sexy and it ain’t zen

I party naked with my friends, it ain’t trippy and it ain’t sin

I hope this song made you think and laugh

Yeah, I get naked to take a bath

I get naked to take a bath

I get naked to take a bath

I even get naked to take a bath 🙂
